An interview about our CTP traineeship for career starters

Thinking strategically, mastering challenges - these strengths and more can be learned and developed by you in our Consulting Talent Program, the CTP traineeship of our private bank together with the management consultancy Plus Ultra Consulting. We have many options for a successful career start. Cynthia Pauly is part of the first generation of this program and has already successfully completed several positions. She answered us in an interview what exactly makes the CTP traineeship so special and whether it met all expectations.

Cynthia, why did you originally choose the financial industry - and why then the CTP program at Bethmann Bank, which offers three different traineeships?

During my studies, I focused on financial management as a minor subject. Parallel to my master's degree, I was able to gain my first experience in the financial industry through a working student position at a private bank. I could easily imagine that happening later. However, I didn't see myself as a traditional banker, so I looked for a different career path. When I saw the advertisement for Bethmann Bank's CTP program, it was the perfect combination of an industry that I could imagine working in and activities that I found appealing.

How did you find out about the trainee program?

I actually found out about the CTP via LinkedIn. I kept looking for jobs at private banks. Unfortunately, there was nothing there that met my expectations and goals for a successful career start. I was even more pleased when I discovered the advertisement for the CTP program.

What makes the CTP program so interesting for you?

The CTP Traineeship is the unique collaboration between the consulting start-up Plus Ultra Consulting (a management consultancy for financial service providers) and Bethmann Bank, an established private bank. Varied projects, a steep learning curve and early assumption of responsibility are what appeal to me. I think it's particularly great that the program allows me to gain experience not only at Bethmann Bank, but also at other financial service providers. This means I can gain comprehensive insights into other companies before I am taken on by Bethmann Bank after completing the program.

What was it like starting your traineeship and how has it gone so far, were your expectations met, were there any surprises?

My expectations of the CTP program were definitely met! I felt very comfortable right from the start, both in the Strategy & Transformation team and in Bethmann Bank itself. Right from the start, I was involved in all processes and was able to help shape them myself. Of course, a lot of things were new at the beginning, but over time you grow with the tasks and get a comprehensive picture of the bank thanks to the cross-departmental approach.
